This Bill is a result of recommendations made by the Joint Sunset Committee. This bill amends the statute by: Creating a separate section of the Delaware Code entitled “Newark Housing Authority”; Expanding the existing Newark Housing Authority Board from 6 to 7 members. Providing that the 7th member of the Board shall be appointed by the Mayor of the City of Newark; Exempting the Newark Housing Authority from the statutory political provision regarding the makeup of the Board; Changing the commissioners’ terms from 6 years to 3 years; and Adding statutory provisions regarding the removal of members.
