AN ACT ESTABLISHING A WAIVER PROCESS FOR MANUFACTURING TECHNOLOGY TEACHING FACULTY.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

Section 1. (NEW) (Effective October 1, 2017) The Board of Regents for Higher Education shall establish a waiver process that authorizes a regional community-technical college to waive the requirement that an applicant seeking employment in a manufacturing technology program offered at such regional community-technical college hold an advanced degree if such applicant has relevant employment experience, as prescribed by the board. For the purposes of this section, "advanced degree" means a postgraduate degree, including a master's degree or doctorate. Nothing in this section shall be construed to impair or alter the provisions of any collective bargaining agreement relating to the conditions or credentials pertaining to employment.

This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections:

To establish a waiver process allowing manufacturing technology faculty applicants to satisfy advanced degree prerequisites with relevant employment experience.
