AN ACT CONCERNING THE USE OF IGNITION INTERLOCK DEVICES BY PERSONS CONVICTED OF DRUNKEN DRIVING WITH A CHILD IN THE VEHICLE.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That section 14-227a of the general statutes be amended to provide that any person convicted of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicating liquor or any drug, or both, while a child under sixteen years of age is a passenger in such motor vehicle shall not operate a motor vehicle for the one-year period following such conviction unless such motor vehicle is equipped with a functioning, approved ignition interlock device.
Statement of Purpose:
To require ignition interlock devices in motor vehicles operated by persons convicted of driving under the influence with a child in the vehicle.
