AN ACT PERMITTING NOTARIES TO CHARGE AN ADDITIONAL FEE FOR TRAVEL EXPENSES.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
Section 1. Section 3-95 of the general statutes is repealed and the following is substituted in lieu thereof (Effective July 1, 2014):
The fee for any act performed by a notary public in accordance with the provisions of the general statutes shall not exceed five dollars plus an additional [thirty-five cents] fee for each mile of travel. The additional fee for travel expenses shall be thirty-five cents a mile or may be at a higher rate agreed to by the client of such notary prior to the commencement of travel.
This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections: | ||

Statement of Purpose:
To allow notaries public to charge a market-determined fee for traveling expenses.
