AN ACT PROHIBITING NONDISPARAGEMENT CLAUSES IN PUBLIC EMPLOYEE SEPARATION AGREEMENTS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That the general statutes be amended to prohibit the use of a gag clause, nondisparagement clause or similar clause in a separation agreement for a public employee that would prohibit such employee from publicly disclosing any information about aspects of his or her employment, termination or resignation, whether or not such clause or agreement is a result of consideration given to such current or former employee.

Statement of Purpose:

To prohibit public employee separation agreements from restricting the rights of the employee to discuss the circumstances of their employment, termination or resignation.
