AN ACT PERMITTING THE COMMISSIONER OF EDUCATION TO GRANT ANNUAL WAIVERS FOR CERTAIN REQUIREMENTS RELATING TO TEACHER EVALUATION PROGRAMS FOR HIGH PERFORMING SCHOOL DISTRICTS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That section 10-151b of the general statutes be amended to authorize the Commissioner of Education to grant an annual waiver of certain requirements relating to the teacher evaluation and support program developed by a local or regional board of education if such board is among the highest performing districts when measured using school performance index scores, as defined in section 10-223e of the general statutes.

Statement of Purpose:

To authorize the Commissioner of Education to grant an annual waiver of new teacher evaluation and reform requirements for high performing school districts.
