AN ACT CONCERNING NOTIFICATION TO THE STATE'S ATTORNEY OF THE DEATH OF A PERSON IN STATE CUSTODY.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

Section 1. (NEW) (Effective October 1, 2016) The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court or any department head, as defined in section 4-5 of the general statutes, including the Commissioner of Education, shall promptly notify the office of the state's attorney for the judicial district of any death in such district of a person in the care, custody or control of any person or entity under the jurisdiction of such justice or department head.

This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections:
