AN ACT CONCERNING THE ADMINISTRATION OF UNEMPLOYMENT COMPENSATION BENEFITS FOR CERTAIN INDIVIDUALS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

Section 1. (Effective from passage) On or before January 1, 2012, the Labor Commissioner shall submit a report, in accordance with the provisions of section 11-4a of the general statutes, to the joint standing committee of the General Assembly having cognizance of matters relating to unemployment compensation. Such report shall make recommendations for the improvement of the TeleBenefits unemployment compensation claim telephone filing system, including recommendations for (1) improvements for individuals who work on a part-time and an on-call basis who are required to file a weekly continued claim whether or not the individual worked, and (2) administrative or legislative action related to facilitating the filing of unemployment compensation claims.

This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections:

Statement of Purpose:

To require the Labor Commissioner to make recommendations for improvements to the TeleBenefits unemployment compensation claim filing system for individuals who work on a part-time and an on-call basis who are required to file a weekly continued claim whether the individual worked or not.
