AN ACT CONCERNING THE INCLUSION OF A CONNECTICUT HISTORY CREDIT REQUIREMENT IN TEACHER PREPARATION PROGRAMS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That section 10-145a of the general statutes be amended to require that any program of teacher preparation leading to professional certification shall include, as part of the curriculum, one credit of instruction in the history of Connecticut.

Statement of Purpose:

To institute an educational requirement for teachers and administrators, including superintendents, that they take a college-level course of at least one credit covering Connecticut history.
