AN ACT REQUIRING ABLE-BODIED RECIPIENTS OF SUPPLEMENTAL NUTRITIONAL ASSISTANCE TO SEEK EMPLOYMENT.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That section 17b-105a of the general statutes be amended to (1) prohibit the Commissioner of Social Services from seeking a federal waiver allowing able-bodied adults without dependents to receive supplemental nutrition assistance without meeting work requirements prescribed in 7 CFR 273.24, and (2) require the commissioner to immediately cease applying an exemption permissible under federal law allowing such adults to receive such assistance.
Statement of Purpose:
To require able-bodied persons receiving food assistance to seek employment.
