AN ACT REQUIRING MUNICIPALITIES TO IMPLEMENT PROGRAMS FOR THE SAFE DISPOSAL OF UNWANTED PRESCRIPTION DRUGS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That section 21a-12f of the general statutes be amended to require every municipality to provide: (1) A secure locked box that is accessible to the public on a twenty-four-hour daily basis for the anonymous drop-off of unwanted pharmaceuticals at a designated location, and (2) the transport of such pharmaceuticals to an appropriate facility for witnessed incineration.
Statement of Purpose:
To protect water resources and the public health by removing unwanted pharmaceuticals from the community.
