Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

Section 1. Subsection (a) of section 10-145b of the general statutes is repealed and the following is substituted in lieu thereof (Effective July 1, 2013):

(a) The State Board of Education, upon receipt of a proper application, shall issue an initial educator certificate to any person who has graduated (1) from a four-year baccalaureate program of teacher education as approved by said state board, [or] (2) from a four-year baccalaureate program approved by said state board or from a college or university accredited by the Board of Regents for Higher Education or State Board of Education or regionally accredited, or (3) from the summer or weekend and evening alternate route to certification program administered by the Office of Higher Education, provided such person has taken such teacher training equivalents as the State Board of Education shall require and, unless such equivalents are taken at institutions outside of this state, as the board of regents shall accredit.
