AN ACT CONCERNING SIGNS PROHIBITING "JAKE-BRAKING".
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That the general statutes be amended to allow the Department of Transportation to place "No Jake-Braking – Residential Area", "Residential Area - Do Not Engine Brake", or an equivalent message, warning signs in downhill stretches of interstate or state highways where the roadway is in close proximity to densely-settled neighborhoods and where over-the-road trucks have historically employed such intrusive, noisy engine braking methods.
Statement of Purpose:
To provide the Department of Transportation with an option to alleviate a noise problem for state residents.
