AN ACT CONCERNING NAVIGATION, COASTAL ACCESS AND CLEAN MARINAS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That the general statutes be amended to (1) designate as a certified clean marina a facility committed to the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection's voluntary clean marina program and engaged in efforts to operate at standards exceeding regulatory compliance, (2) designate as a pledged clean marina a facility committed to becoming a certified clean marina within one year of its pledge date, (3) provide that a certified clean marina or pledged clean marina that proposes a sediment, dredging or disposal project and requests funding shall be eligible for a grant of not less than forty per cent of the costs of the project, and (4) provide that the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection may require a pledged clean marina to repay any portion of such grant if the marina does not transition to a certified clean marina within one year of its pledge.
Statement of Purpose:
To direct existing funding to dredging projects that improve navigation and public access while encouraging clean marina practices.
