AN ACT CONCERNING THE PROVISION OF INFORMATION TO HOSPITAL PATIENTS.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That chapter 368v of the general statutes be amended to require a hospital, prior to admitting a patient or having a patient sign any documents, to explain to the patient (1) the difference between observation and admission, and (2) how certain codes may affect the length of the patient's stay and whether the patient may be transferred to rehabilitation.
Statement of Purpose:
To require hospitals to explain certain medical codes and terminology to prospective patients.
