AN ACT CONCERNING TARGETED HEALTH AREAS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That (1) title 19a of the general statutes be amended to require the Commissioner of Public Health, in consultation with the Commissioner of Social Services and a representative designated by the Connecticut Medical Society, to designate as targeted health areas not more than ten municipalities that have medically-underserved populations or populations with a high rate of chronic disease, and (2) chapter 32-7g of the general statutes be amended to expand the Small Business Express program to include qualifying physicians and physician offices located in municipalities designated as targeted health areas.

Statement of Purpose:

To establish a Targeted Health Area program and expand the Small Business Express program to include certain physicians providing needed medical services in municipalities designated as targeted health areas.
