AN ACT CONCERNING THE OFFICE OF THE VICTIM ADVOCATE.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
Section 1. (Effective from passage) (a) The advisory committee to the Office of the Victim Advocate established by section 46a-13f of the general statutes shall evaluate the performance of the Office of the Victim Advocate and make recommendations on how to improve the effectiveness of the office in carrying out its responsibilities. Such evaluation may include, but not be limited to, consideration of (1) whether the office should be placed within the Judicial Branch, the Division of Criminal Justice or the Office of the Attorney General or remain within the Department of Administrative Services for administrative purposes only; (2) whether the governance structure of the office should be changed; (3) whether the powers and duties of the office should be revised; and (4) whether the office should be renamed.
(b) The advisory committee shall report the findings of its evaluation and its recommendations to improve the effectiveness of the office to the joint standing committee of the General Assembly on the judiciary in accordance with section 11-4a of the general statutes not later than January 5, 2011.
This act shall take effect as follows and shall amend the following sections: | ||

To require the advisory committee to the Office of the Victim Advocate to make recommendations to the General Assembly on how to improve the effectiveness of the office in carrying out its responsibilities.
