AN ACT PERMITTING NONPROFIT NONPUBLIC SCHOOLS TO BECOME CHARTER SCHOOLS.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That section 10-66bb of the general statutes be amended to permit the State Board of Education to grant charters for local and state charter schools to nonprofit nonpublic schools.

Statement of Purpose:

To permit nonprofit nonpublic schools offering educational alternatives for low-income families to become charter schools.
