AN ACT CONCERNING RENTAL PAYMENTS DURING THE PENDENCY OF AN EVICTION PROCEEDING.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:
That section 47a-26b of the general statutes be amended to provide that the payments deposited with the court by a tenant for use and occupancy of a rental dwelling unit during the pendency of a summary process action shall be placed in an escrow account and the interest earned on such account shall be distributed to programs that aid the homeless.
Statement of Purpose:
To protect the rights of landlords during a summary process action and assist programs that aid the homeless.
