   An act to amend Section 51040 of the Education Code, relating to
pupil instruction.


	LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST


   SB 1145, as introduced, Wyland. Pupil instruction: courses of
study.
   Existing law establishes the system of public elementary and
secondary schools in this state, and prescribes courses of study
required for pupils to advance through the various grade levels.
Existing law requires school district governing boards to prepare,
and keep on file, a record of the courses of study prescribed for the
schools of that district.
   This bill would make technical, nonsubstantive changes in this
provision.
   Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no.
State-mandated local program: no.


THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  SECTION 1.  Section 51040 of the Education Code is amended to read:

   51040.  The governing board of  every   a
 school district shall prepare  ,  and shall keep on
file for public inspection  , a list of  the courses of
study prescribed for the schools under its jurisdiction.
