An act to amend Section 3502 of the Governemtn Code, relating to public employment.

AB 530, as introduced, Cooper. Local public employee labor relations.
Existing law, the Meyers-Milias-Brown Act, authorizes local public employees, as defined, to form, join, and participate in the activities of employee organizations of their own choosing to represent themselves on matters of employer-employee relations. Existing law also grants these public employees the right to refuse to join or participate in those activities and to represent themselves individually in their employment relations.
This bill would make nonsubstantive changes to these provisions.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:


SECTION 1.

 Section 3502 of the Government Code is amended to read:

3502.
 Except as otherwise provided by the Legislature, public employees shall have the right to form, join, and participate in the activities of employee organizations of their own choosing for the purpose of representation on all matters of employer-employee relations. Public employees also shall have the right to refuse to join or participate in the activities of employee organizations and shall have the right to represent themselves individually in their employment relations with the their public agency. agencies.
