An act to amend Section 50078 of the Government Code, relating to fire suppression assessments.

AB 3267, as introduced, Smith. Fire suppression assessments.
Existing law authorizes any local agency which provides fire suppression services directly or by contract with the state or a local agency to determine and levy an assessment, in accordance with specified procedures, to pay for fire suppression services.
This bill would make nonsubstantive changes to the provision described above authorizing a local agency that provides fire suppression services to determine and levy an assessment.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:


SECTION 1.

 Section 50078 of the Government Code is amended to read:

50078.
 AnyA local agency which that provides fire suppression services directly or by contract with the state or a local agency may, by ordinance or by resolution adopted after notice and hearing, determine and levy an assessment for fire suppression services pursuant to this article. The assessment may be made for the purpose of obtaining, furnishing, operating, and maintaining fire suppression equipment or apparatus or for the purpose of paying the salaries and benefits of firefighting personnel, or both, whether or not fire suppression services are actually used by or upon a parcel, improvement, or property.
