BILL NUMBER: AB 2592 AMENDED BILL TEXT AMENDED IN ASSEMBLY MARCH 29, 2012 INTRODUCED BY Assembly Member Furutani FEBRUARY 24, 2012 An act to amend Section3353433533 of the Education Code, relating tostate educational commissionscurriculum development . LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST AB 2592, as amended, Furutani.State educational commissions:Curriculum Development and Supplemental Materials Commission : membership . Existing law establishes the Curriculum Development and Supplemental Materials Commission and, among other things, requires the Superintendent of Public Instructionor his representative to serve as its executive secretaryand the State Board of Education to consider for membership on the commission persons representing specified subjects commonly taught in public schools .This bill would make a technical, nonsubstantive change to that provision.This bill would add career technical education to that list of subjects. Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee:noyes . State-mandated local program: no. THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. Section 33533 of the Education Code is amended to read: 33533. The Superintendentof Public Instructionand theState Board of Educationstate board shall consider for membership on the commission persons representing subjects commonly taught in public schools, including: (a) English. (b) Social sciences. (c) Foreign languages. (d) Science. (e) Mathematics. (f) Visual and performing arts. (g) Applied arts. (h) Conservation education. (i) Career technical education.SECTION 1.Section 33534 of the Education Code is amended to read: 33534. The Superintendent of Public Instruction or his or her representative shall serve as executive secretary to the commission.
