An act relating to libraries, and making an appropriation therefor.


LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST


AB 1663, as amended, Luz Rivas. California State Library: Lunch at the Library Program.
Existing law establishes in the State Department of Education a division known as the California State Library. Existing law declares that the public library is a supplement to the formal system of free public education, a source of information and inspiration to persons of all ages, and a resource for continuing education and reeducation beyond the years of formal education, and as such deserves adequate financial support from government at all levels.
This bill would appropriate appropriate, on a one-time basis, $1,000,000 from the General Fund to the California State Library to support the Lunch at the Library Program.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:


SECTION 1.

 The sum of one million dollars ($1,000,000) is hereby appropriated on a one-time basis from the General Fund to the California State Library to support the Lunch at the Library Program.
