   An act to amend Section 2231 of the Streets and Highways Code,
relating to transportation.


	LEGISLATIVE COUNSEL'S DIGEST


   AB 1414, as introduced, Hill. Transportation planning.
   Existing law provides for apportionment of federal funding to the
state for allocation to metropolitan planning organizations for the
purpose of transportation planning activities.
   This bill would make a nonsubstantive change to these provisions.

   Vote: majority. Appropriation: no. Fiscal committee: no.
State-mandated local program: no.


THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

  SECTION 1.  Section 2231 of the Streets and Highways Code is
amended to read:
   2231.  The  Federal Aid Highway Act of 1973  
federal government  has authorized appropriations for
expenditure within urbanized areas for comprehensive transportation
planning purposes. The purpose of this chapter is to implement
 such   this  program in this state. The
commission, the department, appropriate regional and local planning
agencies, boards of supervisors, and city councils are authorized to
do all things necessary in their respective jurisdictions to secure
 such   these  federal funds in accordance
with the intent of  the  federal  act
  law  and  of  this chapter.
