An act relating to specialty crops.

AB 1163, as introduced, Irwin. Specialty crop funding.

Existing law requires the Department of Food and Agriculture, headed by the Secretary of Food and Agriculture, to promote and protect the agricultural industry of the state.

This bill would state that it is the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation that would create a matching grant program for the “Buy California” Specialty Crop Block Grant Program to leverage federal and private investment and appropriate $3,000,000 for that purpose.

The people of the State of California do enact as follows:

SECTION 1.

It is the intent of the Legislature to enact legislation that would create a matching grant program for the “Buy California” Specialty Crop Block Grant Program to leverage federal and private investment and appropriate three million dollars ($3,000,000) for that purpose.
