AN ACT
amending title 9, chapter 4, article 8, arizona revised statutes, by adding section 9-500.48; amending title 11, chapter 2, article 4, arizona revised statutes, by adding section 11-269.27; relating to law enforcement.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:
Section 1. Title 9, chapter 4, article 8, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 9-500.48, to read:
9-500.48. Law enforcement; budget decrease; prohibition; definition
A. A city or town may not reduce the annual operating budget for a law enforcement agency by any amount below the previous year's budget.
b. for the purposes of this section, "law enforcement agency" means a municipal police department.
Sec. 2. Title 11, chapter 2, article 4, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 11-269.27, to read:
11-269.27. Law enforcement; budget decrease; prohibition; definition
A. A county may not reduce the annual operating budget for a law enforcement agency by any amount below the previous year's budget.
b. For the purposes of this section, "law enforcement agency" means a county sheriff's department.
