AN ACT

 

making an APPROPRIATION to the arizona commerce authority for an economic development grant to a symphony.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1.  Appropriation; Arizona commerce authority; economic development grant; symphony

The sum of $2,000,000 is appropriated from the state general fund in fiscal year 2014-2015 to the Arizona commerce authority for distribution as an economic development grant to a symphony in a city with a population of more than one million persons according to the most recent United States decennial census.  Before the authority distributes the monies appropriated by this section, the symphony must demonstrate to the authority:

1.  That the grant will enable the symphony to create, retain or increase jobs in the community.

2.  The extent to which the economic development from the symphony will raise the standard of living of the community and increase the quality of life in this state.
