AN ACT

 

amending title 13, chapter 24, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 13-2413; relating to the arizona rangers.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1.  Title 13, chapter 24, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 13-2413, to read:

START_STATUTE13-2413.  Impersonating an Arizona ranger; classification; definition

A.  A person commits impersonating an Arizona ranger if the person, without lawful authority, pretends to be an Arizona ranger and engages in any conduct with the intent to induce another to submit to the person's pretended authority or to rely on the person's pretended acts.

B.  Impersonating an Arizona ranger is a class 1 misdemeanor.

C.  For the purposes of this section, "Arizona ranger" means a person who is an unpaid volunteer who offers law enforcement support and assistance and who has membership rights in the Arizona rangers, which formed in 1901 and disbanded in 1909 and which was reestablished in 1957 by original Arizona rangers.
