Proposing an amendment to the constitution of arizona; amending article XVI, section 1, constitution of arizona; Relating to the state militia.

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of Arizona, the Senate concurring:

1.  Article XVI, section 1, Constitution of Arizona, is proposed to be amended as follows if approved by the voters and on proclamation of the Governor:

START_STATUTE1.  Composition of militia

Section 1.  The militia of the state of Arizona shall consist of all capable citizens of the state between the ages of eighteen and forty‑five years, who are at least eighteen years of age and capable of bearing arms and of those between said ages residents of the state who are at least eighteen years of age, who are capable of bearing arms and who shall have declared their intention to become citizens of the United States, residing therein, subject to such exemptions as now exist, or as may hereafter be created, by the laws of the United States or of this state.

2.  The secretary of state shall submit this proposition to the voters at the next general election as provided by article XXI, Constitution of Arizona. END_STATUTE
