A CONCURRENT MEMORIAL

 

urging the United States Congress and the United States Environmental Protection Agency to recognize nuclear power as a viable energy source and to commend Arizona's diversified energy portfolio.

To the Congress of the United States and the Administrator of the United States Environmental Protection Agency:

Your memorialist respectfully represents:

Whereas, nuclear power is a reliable and inexpensive source of clean, carbon-free energy; and

Whereas, through the creation of thousands of high‑paying nuclear‑related jobs, nuclear power serves as an economic engine for Arizona; and

Whereas, nuclear power provides millions of dollars in tax revenue to Arizona's schools and local governments; and

Whereas, nuclear power is a source of clean energy that does not require the kind of tax and rate subsidies demanded by other clean‑energy industries; and

Whereas, nuclear power has been, and should continue to be, one of Arizona's primary sources of electricity; and

Whereas, Arizona identifies diversity as a clear goal with respect to its energy portfolio.

Wherefore your memorialist, the House of Representatives of the State of Arizona, the Senate concurring, prays:

1.  That the United States Congress and the United States Environmental Protection Agency recognize nuclear power as a viable source of clean energy.

2.  That the United States Congress and the United States Environmental Protection Agency commend Arizona's diversified energy portfolio.

3.  That the Secretary of State of the State of Arizona transmit a copy of this Memorial to the President of the United States Senate, the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, each Member of Congress from the State of Arizona and the Administrator of the United States Environmental Protection Agency.
