AN ACT

 

Amending title 36, chapter 4.1, article 2, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 36-475; relating to clinical laboratories.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1. Title 36, chapter 4.1, article 2, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 36-475, to read:

START_STATUTE36-475. Specimens; patient affirmative consent; use; disposal

A. A laboratory may not use or share a specimen or any other material derived from a human body for any purpose other than the purpose for which the laboratory obtained the patient's affirmative consent. 

B. A laboratory shall dispose of any specimen or other material derived from a human body within three days after a diagnostic test has been completed unless the laboratory has obtained the patient's affirmative consent to do otherwise.END_STATUTE
