AN ACT
amending section 8‑452, Arizona Revised Statutes; relating to the department of child safety.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:
Section 1. Section 8-452, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended to read:
8-452. Director; appointment; qualifications; compensation
A. The governor shall appoint the director of the department pursuant to section 38‑211. The director serves at the pleasure of the governor.
B. At a minimum, the director shall have:
1. Administrative experience in the protection of children from maltreatment and in family support services.
2. Qualifications and training that enable the director to manage the affairs of the department.
1. A master's or doctoral degree in social work, public health, human services, public administration or policy, law, clinical psychology or a closely related field.
2. At least twelve years of experience in the provision and supervision of child welfare, public health or social services programs, including evidence of community collaborations.
3. At least two years of demonstrated successful experience in the management of a large health or human services system in either the governmental or nonprofit sector or a related sector and evidence of collaboration and effective partnerships with the community.
C. The director is eligible to receive compensation pursuant to section 38‑611.
