AN ACT
Amending title 13, chapter 29, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 13-2910.10; relating to offenses against public order.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:
Section 1. Title 13, chapter 29, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 13-2910.10, to read:
13-2910.10. Unlawful confinement of egg-laying hens; classification; definition
A. It is unlawful for a person to confine any egg-laying hen to a living space that does not allow the egg‑laying hen sufficient space to fully extend its limbs without touching the sides of the living space.
B. Subsection A does not apply to the confinement of egg-laying hens for the purposes of transportation, slaughter or veterinary care.
C. A person who violates this section is guilty of a class 1 misdemeanor.
D. For the purposes of this section, "living space" means a cage, crate or other structure that is used to confine egg-laying hens.
Sec. 2. Applicability
A person who has raised egg-laying hens and who, before the effective date of this act, has confined them by a method prohibited by section 13‑2910.10, Arizona Revised Statutes, as added by this act, may continue to use those same confinement methods until January 1, 2017.
