AN ACT
Amending section 36‑2975, Arizona Revised Statutes; appropriating monies; relating to qualified medicare beneficiaries.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:
Section 1. Section 36-2975, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended to read:
36-2975. Specified low income medicare beneficiary; eligibility
A. The administration shall determine the eligibility of all persons who are specified low income medicare beneficiaries in accordance with federal law. The administration shall pay the monthly premiums under part B of title XVIII of the social security act on behalf of each specified low income medicare beneficiary.
B. Subject to available appropriations, the administration shall provide a specified low income medicare beneficiary the same benefits under the system as a qualified medicare beneficiary only.
Sec. 2. Appropriation; AHCCCS; specified low income medicare beneficiaries; fiscal year 2017-2018; exemption
A. The sum of $27,500,000 is appropriated from the state general fund in fiscal year 2017‑2018 to the Arizona health care cost containment system to provide specified low income medicare beneficiaries benefits as specified in section 36‑2975, Arizona Revised Statutes, as amended by this act.
B. The appropriation made in subsection A of this section is exempt from the provision of section 35‑190, Arizona Revised Statutes, relating to lapsing of appropriations.
