AN ACT

 

Amending title 25, chapter 1, article 3, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 25-131; relating to marriage license, ceremony and record.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1.  Title 25, chapter 1, article 3, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 25-131, to read:

START_STATUTE25-131.  Marriage preparation course; requirements; fee reduction

The clerk of the court shall reduce the fee prescribed in section 12‑284 for issuance of a marriage license by fifty per cent if the applicants provide a statement signed by a member of the clergy or a marriage counselor indicating the applicants have successfully completed a marriage preparation course that was conducted by the signatory and that included at least the following:

1.  Conflict management.

2.  Communication skills.

3.  Financial responsibilities.

4.  Parenting responsibilities. END_STATUTE
