AN ACT

 

Amending Title 23, chapter 9, article 1, Arizona Revised Statutes, by adding section 23-1503; relating to the employment protection.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:

Section 1.  Title 23, chapter 9, article 1, Arizona Revised Statutes, is amended by adding section 23-1503, to read:

START_STATUTE23-1503.  Compensatory and punitive damages; limits

The sum of compensatory damages and punitive damages awarded to an employee for a Claim against an employer under this article shall not exceed:

1.  fifty thousand dollars if the employer has at least one employee but less than one hundred employees in each of twenty or more calendar weeks in the current or preceding calendar year.

2.  one hundred thousand dollars if the employer has at least one HUNDRED employees but less than two hundred employees in each of twenty or more calendar weeks in the current or preceding calendar year.

3.  two hundred thousand dollars if the employer has at least two hundred employees but less than five hundred employees in each of twenty or more calendar weeks in the current or preceding calendar year.

4.  Three hundred thousand dollars if the employer has at least five HUNDRED employees in each of twenty or more calendar weeks in the current or preceding calendar year. END_STATUTE
