AN ACT
appropriating monies to the department of TRANSPORTATION for street or highway projects.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Arizona:
Section 1. Appropriation; department of transportation; counties, cities and towns; population estimates; street or highway projects
A. The sum of $60,000,000 is appropriated from the state general fund in fiscal year 2019-2020 to the department of transportation for distribution as follows:
1. $30,000,000 to counties as follows:
(a) $1,500,000 to each individual county.
(b) The remainder of the monies apportioned to each individual county based on population.
2. $30,000,000 to cities and towns as follows:
(a) $150,000 to each individual city or town.
(b) The remainder of the monies apportioned to each individual city or town based on population.
B. For the purposes of this section the department shall use the 2017 population estimates from the United States census bureau.
C. The monies distributed pursuant to this section may be used only for street or highway projects, including the construction or maintenance of streets or highways.
