Strike page 1, insert:
"Whereas, on March 11, 2020, Governor Doug Ducey issued a declaration of public health emergency due to the global pandemic, noting that COVID-19 is a contagious and sometimes fatal disease; and
Whereas, on March 19, 2020, the governor issued an executive order limiting the operation of certain businesses, including the closure of bars, movie theaters and gyms, in order to slow the spread of COVID-19; and
Whereas, on March 23, 2020, the governor issued another executive order that prohibited the closure of essential services, including stores that sell groceries and medicine; and
Whereas, throughout the pandemic, health care professionals and workers have put in tremendously long and difficult hours, working diligently to care for individuals who have contracted COVID-19; and
Whereas, these dedicated individuals have often sacrificed time with their own families, including young children, in order to keep them safe from the disease; and
Whereas, throughout the pandemic, first responders have continued to protect the safety of our communities as they adjust to social distancing and enhanced health precautions; and
Whereas, throughout the pandemic, food distribution workers have worked overtime, stocking store shelves with essential food, medicine and hygiene products, to ensure that families are able to obtain the products and goods they need during the pandemic shutdown period."
Page 2, strike lines 5 and 6, insert "selfless and dedicated health care professionals and workers, first responders and food distribution workers who have provided vital assistance to the citizens of Arizona in coping with the public health emergency during the coronavirus pandemic."
