FLOOR AMENDMENT EXPLANATION
Current law requires elected officials to disclose the home address and the names of spouses and minor children. This amendment is aimed at minimizing spouses and minor children from potential harassment or danger, while still providing the public with information about the elected official’s financial interests.
The public officer’s financial disclosure statement is required to include whether the public officer’s spouse is a member of the public officer’s household, number of minor children who are members of the public officer’s household.
It permits the financial disclosure statement to use either a home or work address, the term spouse or minor child, if required to disclose such identities.

Line 12, strike "household" insert ", whether the public officer's spouse is a member of the public officer's household, the number of minor children who are members of the public officer's household"; after the period insert "If disclosure of the identity of the public officer's spouse or minor child would otherwise be required, a public officer may comply with the identification requirement by using the term "spouse" or "minor child", as applicable."
