A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by adding thereto a new article, designated §21-5A-1, relating to prohibiting the requesting of employee wage verification.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, be amended by adding thereto a new article, designated §21-5A-1, to read as follows:
Article 5A. wage verification.
§21-5A-1. Wage verification requests prohibited; exception.
No state agency or official or private individual may request employee records for verification of wages being paid unless such disclosure is mandated by federal law.
NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to prohibit the requesting of employee wage verification.
