Creating a day of remembrance for Charles James ("Charlie") Kirk.
Whereas, Charles James ("Charlie") Kirk was born on October 14, 1993 in Arlington Heights, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago; and
Whereas, Growing up, Charlie Kirk was an Eagle Scout who was raised Presbyterian; and
Whereas, In 2012 at age 18, Charlie Kirk founded Turning Point USA, a conservative, nonprofit organization and one of the fastest growing organizations on college campuses and in high schools; and
Whereas, Charlie Kirk was the chief executive officer of Turning Point USA until his untimely death;
Whereas, In 2016 Charlie Kirk became the youngest speaker at the Republican National Convention and in 2020 he was the opening speaker; and
Whereas, Under Charlie Kirk's leadership, Turning Point USA became a major youth-focused conservative organization that engaged in college events, campus debates, voter mobilizations, and influence on the Republican Party; and
Whereas, In 2021, Charlie Kirk married Erika Frantzve, with whom he had two children; and
Whereas, on September 10, 2025, at age 31. Charlie Kirk was fatally shot at a campus event at Utah Valley University; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Legislature of West Virginia:
The 14th day of October is hereby designated as "Charlie Kirk Remembrance Day" in West Virginia; and, be it
Further Resolved, That a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Turning Point USA.
