A BILL to amend the Code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, by adding a new section, designated §24-2-4i, relating to providing a cap of 5% per year to any proposed rate increases by a public utility company.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:

 

ARTICLE 2. POWERS AND DUTIES OF PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION.

 

§24-2-4i. Limit on proposed rate increases by public utilities.

Effective July 1, 2026, all proposed rate increases by public utilities shall not exceed the amount of 5% per year.

 

NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to cap any proposed rate increases by public utilities at the amount of 5% per year.
