Celebrating the lives of Omar, Marieme, and Aicha Wade.

WHEREAS, Omar, Marieme, and Aicha Wade, three young members of the Albemarle County community who brought joy to others through their kindness, positivity, and commitment to their community, died on August 4, 2023; and

WHEREAS, a recent graduate of Albemarle High School, Omar Wade was a proactive lifelong learner who often helped other students achieve their fullest potential; and

WHEREAS, Omar Wade was passionate about science, technology, engineering, and mathematics and was planning to attend Old Dominion University to study computer science; and

WHEREAS, Marieme Wade was a rising 11th-grade student at Albemarle High School; she was a talented athlete who achieved success on the basketball and track and field teams and inspired her teammates through her energy, enthusiasm, and natural leadership abilities; and

WHEREAS, Marieme Wade consistently worked to improve herself and sought opportunities to support and care for family members and friends; and

WHEREAS, Aicha Wade, a rising sixth-grade student at Lakeside Middle School, was an engaging conversationalist who was well known for her warmth, compassion, and infectious smile; and

WHEREAS, Omar, Marieme, and Aicha Wade were active members of the Islamic Society of Central Virginia, participating in numerous activities to enhance cultural and religious life in their mosque community; and

WHEREAS, Omar, Marieme, and Aicha Wade were all involved with local Scouting organizations and all practiced Tae Kwon Do, where they excelled at both competition and instruction and were admired for their intensity and fairness; and

WHEREAS, Omar, Marieme, and Aicha Wade were role models for many other local children, demonstrating generosity, empathy, and the importance of self-respect through their many volunteer activities; and

WHEREAS, Omar, Marieme, and Aicha Wade will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by their parents, Deedee and Papa Wade; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of Virginia hereby note with great sadness the loss of Omar, Marieme, and Aicha Wade, beloved members of the Albemarle County community; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Omar, Marieme, and Aicha Wade as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's respect for their memories.
