SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 16
Celebrating the life of Jesse Clingenpeel.
 
Agreed to by the Senate, January 14, 2016
 

WHEREAS, Jesse Clingenpeel of Roanoke, a member of the Roanoke Fire-EMS Department, a proud veteran of the United States military, a man of faith, and a devoted husband and friend, died on November 5, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Jesse Clingenpeel, who had dreamed of serving his country since he was a young boy, enlisted in the United States Army when he was 17; he was stationed in Afghanistan when in 2009 he was gravely injured; and

WHEREAS, the recipient of the Purple Heart, Jesse Clingenpeel left active military service because of his combat injuries; after recovering from his wounds, he sought new opportunities to serve the community and joined the Roanoke Fire-EMS Department in 2013; and

WHEREAS, as part of his work for the City of Roanoke as a first responder, Jesse Clingenpeel started attending emergency medical technician classes and was planning to be a paramedic, thus continuing his life's goal to protect and serve; and

WHEREAS, Jesse Clingenpeel was a man of deep faith and a friend to all who knew him; he is remembered for his ability to light up a room with his presence and his friendly demeanor with all people; and

WHEREAS, Jesse Clingenpeel was a devoted husband who will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by his wife, Amber, whom he married in 2013; his parents; and many other family members, friends, and fellow first responders; now, therefore, be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate of Virginia hereby note with great sadness the loss of Jesse Clingenpeel of Roanoke, a proud veteran who served the community as a member of the Roanoke Fire-EMS Department, a man of great faith, and a devoted husband and friend; and, be it

RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Jesse Clingenpeel as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's respect for his memory.
