WHEREAS, David Wiett Reed, an honorable veteran, distinguished advocate for the nation's servicemen and servicewomen, and beloved member of the Virginia Beach community, died on February 12, 2024; and
WHEREAS, a proud combat veteran of the United States Navy, David Reed served his country with honor and distinction as an aviation machinist's mate second class and plane captain; and
WHEREAS, David Reed worked for many years in real estate and mortgage banking before his passion for the nation's military and the well-being of its veterans led him to devote many years to the organization Concerned Veterans for America (CVA); and
WHEREAS, David Reed was a tireless advocate for the nation's veterans on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., in his capacity as the CVA's Virginia State Director; and
WHEREAS, in his personal time, David Reed was a motorcycle enthusiast who honored his fellow veterans and fostered community as a member of the Virginia Patriot Guard and the Boneshakers Social Club of Hampton Roads; and
WHEREAS, David Reed will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by his loving wife, Michele; his children, Sidney, Megan, and A.J.; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of Virginia hereby note with great sadness the loss of David Wiett Reed, a cherished member of the Virginia Beach community and true patriot whose leadership, integrity, and service inspired all who knew him; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of David Wiett Reed as an expression of the Senate of Virginia's respect for his memory.
