WHEREAS, Ivan Herman Tepper, a highly admired entrepreneur who served the Lynchburg community for three decades as the owner of the industrial supplier Delta Star, Inc., died on August 7, 2023; and
WHEREAS, Ivan Tepper grew up in Chicago, Illinois, and was a lifelong fan of the Chicago Bears; and
WHEREAS, after graduating from the John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Ivan Tepper worked as an attorney for nearly 25 years; and
WHEREAS, Ivan Tepper later relocated to Lynchburg, where he served as chief executive officer and chair of the board of Delta Star, Inc., which he guided to become a national leader in transformer manufacturing and other industrial power supply needs; and
WHEREAS, admired for his strategic mind, compassion, and thoughtful leadership, Ivan Tepper earned many accolades during his 30-year tenure with Delta Star, Inc., including a statewide entrepreneur of the year award; and
WHEREAS, outside of his career, Ivan Tepper had a keen ear for music and was passionate about playing the piano, especially the works of Scott Joplin and other ragtime composers; he was also an avid traveler and relished every opportunity to explore new places, meet new people, and share stories with friends and family; and
WHEREAS, the proud patriarch of a large family, Ivan Tepper will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his beloved wife, Liliana; his children and stepchildren, and their families; and numerous other family members and friends; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly hereby note with great sadness the loss of Ivan Herman Tepper, a respected business owner who made many contributions to the Lynchburg community; and, be it
RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Ivan Herman Tepper as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for his memory.
