WHEREAS, Brian Anthony Carderelli of Harrisonburg, a devoted son, talented videographer, and beloved friend, died on August 5, 2010; and WHEREAS, a native of Harrisonburg, Brian Carderelli was born on November 14, 1984, to loving parents Mike and Sharon Carderelli; and WHEREAS, along with his siblings, Jonathan, Daniel, and Gina, Brian Carderelli learned from his parents' example the joy of service; his compassion and sincere interest in and respect for others was a hallmark of his life; and WHEREAS, a talented and eager student, Brian Carderelli received an associate's degree from Blue Ridge Community College and a bachelor's degree from James Madison University's School of Media Arts and Design with a concentration in digital video and cinema; and WHEREAS, an active young man, Brian Carderelli attained the rank of Eagle Scout and enjoyed hiking, snowboarding, and surfing; he also enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends who enjoyed his quick wit and admired his loyalty; and WHEREAS, after graduation from James Madison University, Brian Carderelli went to work for the International School of Kabul in Afghanistan as the public relations manager; and WHEREAS, in his free time, Brian Carderelli used his videography skills as he met with the local people of Afghanistan and learned more about their customs and way of life; and WHEREAS, Brian Carderelli generously volunteered his time and talents as a videographer with various nongovernmental organizations in Kabul before embarking on a charity medical mission with the International Assistance Mission; and WHEREAS, members of the team traveled to a remote province of Afghanistan where the medical personnel provided eye care, dental care, and maternal health care while Brian Carderelli served as the videographer for the team; and WHEREAS, Brian Carderelli and his fellow team members lost their lives when the team was attacked while travelling through Badakhshan back to Kabul; and WHEREAS, Brian Carderelli lived his life with great enthusiasm and compassion, leaving behind an enduring legacy of love and service that will not be forgotten; and WHEREAS, Brian Carderelli will be greatly missed by his parents, Mike and Sharon Carderelli; siblings, Jonathan, Daniel, and Gina; nephew, Micah; and his numerous other family members, friends, and admirers; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED by the Senate, the House of Delegates concurring, That the General Assembly note with great sadness the loss of a beloved citizen, Brian Anthony Carderelli; and, be it RESOLVED FURTHER, That the Clerk of the Senate prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to the family of Brian Anthony Carderelli as an expression of the General Assembly's respect for his memory. |
