SENATE BILL NO. 899
AMENDMENT IN THE NATURE OF A SUBSTITUTE
(Proposed by the Senate Committee for Courts of Justice
on February 5, 2018)

A BILL relating to the disposition of 65 acres of the Camp 7 parcel located in Clarke County.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. §1. That, except as provided by this act, the Commonwealth shall not convey, sell, lease, or otherwise dispose of 65 contiguous acres of that property known as of January 1, 2018, as the Camp 7 parcel, located in Clarke County. The title to such property shall be held by the Commonwealth with the intent to enter into an agreement for the conveyance, sale, lease, or other disposition to Clarke County of the 65 contiguous acres on such terms as negotiated by the Department of General Services and representatives of Clarke County pursuant to §2.2-1150 of the Code of Virginia. Any disposition to Clarke County shall be agreed to by the Governor or his designee in writing and the Attorney General as to form. The Department of General Services and representatives of Clarke County shall enter into good faith negotiations for the conveyance, sale, lease, or other disposition to Clarke County of such 65 contiguous acres.

§2. The prohibition on the conveyance, sale, lease, or other disposition of such 65 contiguous acres to a person or entity other than Clarke County shall expire on July 1, 2019.
