A BILL to amend the Code of Virginia by adding in Chapter 44 of Title 59.1 a section numbered 59.1-518.01, relating to telemarketing; financial exploitation; agency communication.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That the Code of Virginia is amended by adding in Chapter 44 of Title 59.1 a section numbered 59.1-518.01 as follows:

§59.1-518.01. Communication with state agencies.

The Attorney General shall establish ongoing communication with the Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services [ and the Department of Social Services ] to ensure that adults, as defined in §63.2-1603, have access to information regarding the prevention of potential patterns of financial exploitation. The Attorney General shall coordinate with the Commissioner of the Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services [ and the Commissioner of Social Services ] to determine an effective and efficient manner of communicating such information, while also ensuring that confidential or privileged information is not exchanged.
